Blog 8: Websites and Development
The web design assignment was very interesting to work on. It was a time-consuming assignment that took some time and elbow grease to work out properly. Even with using a website template, it proved to be challenging at times with trying to figure out how I can incorporate certain information and where I should be incorporating it. I did like the assignment since it gave me the opportunity to learn more about website building and to further practice my skills. What I disliked about it would be the time given for the project, since I feel like we could have possibly been given a bit more time to work on it. Then again, other work needs to get done so maybe it was the most that we could have realistically been given. I can apply what I learned from this assignment to my future career by understanding how to overcome unexpected obstacles and how to find creative solutions for problems.
What I learned with Diigo was similar to what I learned with the website building; I found a way to gain new and interesting information. I also learned about easier methods to take notes as well as share specific information that otherwise would have me take a completely different route to provide this information to someone. I can see myself using Diigo in the classroom since it will allow a different method for students to communicate with each other and share important information. It will also allow me to do the same with my students and will give me the chance the give them information that they may need in a more direct manner.
When it comes to technology and teacher development, it is something that I do feel is important to keep up with. As time keeps going, so do advances in technology that make teaching easier for educators and allow them to provide information to their students in a faster and more efficient form. Thus, it is important for teachers to stay up to date with technological advances since it may prove to be useful for both the teacher and the students. A site that can be used to be up to date with this information is the Office of Educational Technology. On that site are different blogs that provide information on the different types of technology that are currently available and how they may be useful for teachers and students.
Hi Veep,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that it is important to stay on top of educational trends due to its nature of helping students more effectively and efficiently. I almost wish I had some of the technology we have today in my classrooms back when I was in k-12.
Hi Veep,
ReplyDeleteI believe it is also really important to keep up with technology, especially as an educator. Being up to date will be useful to educators because it will benefit the teacher and student. I liked the website you provided!
I agree it was hard to work out some of the elements for this assignment as well I definitely had a tough time but you did a great job! Everything on your page is perfectly legible, very cohesive in terms of similar elements used on every page, and you use proximity very well by spacing out your central ideas onto different pages accessible through the menu tab.
ReplyDeleteHi Veep, I am leaving this to comment on your website with CRAP.
ReplyDeleteContrast: They had a lot of different shades of grey with pops of color, looks very nice.
Repetition: The fonts were all uniform and very pleasing to read.
Alignment: Organized very well, everything that should be centered was.
Proximity:the helpful links were in the right area with the information for parents tab, so I found this to be a good example of good proximity.
Hello Veep! Your website follows the C.R.A.P. guidelines very well. The colors are all very professional looking that have stark contrast between dark colors with white and bits of colors. It also appears that you consistently use the same color schemes and style of texts throughout your website, so it has very nice repetition! Everything also appears to be lined up and grouped together properly, as well as everything being within the correct places. This shows great alignment and proximity. Overall, you did a great job on these guidelines!
